Drones are an unmanned aircraft that was first created during the WWI by the Britain and the U.S. The drones weren't used on combat during the WWI. Later in 1935 the British developed a drone called the "Queen Bee". "The term drone dates to this initial use, a play on the "Queen Bee" nomenclature" (Earls). Nowadays drones are being used for several reasons. Such as for taking a video, for military purposes, exploration, and much more.
